Preschool
he Preschool Class at Oak Park Day School in Garland empowers little minds to develop great skills and habits that will assist them in moving toward independent activity.
Team teaching in the preschool class allows children to function as part of a large group while maintaining more personal attention. The class has two groups of 12 students who are led by two tenured Oak Park teachers.
The day is organized in 30-minute increments of circle time, reading time, creative play, recess, snack time, nap time, and special activities. This allows students to move between sedentary and action-based learning to keep bodies and minds stimulated.
Preschoolers learn their letters and numbers. They identify and learn to draw shapes and learn to use words to express thoughts and feelings.

These children are COMPLETELY POTTY TRAINED
– Children are able to decide for themselves when they need to use the restroom and are able to do so without assistance from the teacher. They are also able to clean themselves without assistance.
Building MOTOR SKILLS
– Throwing a ball, catching a ball, jumping, tumbling, balancing, etc
Introduce GROUPING SIMILAR ITEMS
– Learning to group similar items (clothes, fruits, shapes, etc) utilizes the same part of the brain we use for Algebra
Developing DEXTERITY
– Introduce how to properly hold a large crayon, paint brush, eating utensils, etc.
Introduce ETIQUETTE and GOOD MANNERS
